Boogaard brother charged in NHL player’s OD death
The once NHL enforcer Derek Boogaard was out of drug rehab for just one day before being given an unprescribed narcotic pain pill by his younger brother before a night of clubbing. Drug-taking and heavy drinking resulted in his death, prosecutors alleged Friday.
A complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court said Aaron Boogaard(notes), 24, told police he gave his brother a single oxycodone the night before he found Derek Boogaard dead in their Minneapolis apartment May 13. Derek Boogaard, 28, died of what authorities ruled was a toxic mix of alcohol and drugs.
The younger Boogaard was charged Friday with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, a felony that also applies when narcotics are given away for free. He was also charged with interfering with the scene of a death for allegedly flushing the rest of his brother’s drug stash—a mix of oxycodone and related drugs—down the toilet before police arrived, the complaint alleged.

Tiger Woods Fires Caddie
After a year that has left many questioning, What happened to golf's icon?
Caused by a year plagued by a sex scandal and divorce, a swing change to his game and the loss of four major corporate sponsors.
Now, one of golf’s most successful player-caddie partnerships ended in a board room at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia two weeks ago when Woods fired his caddie. Both kept the news private until Wednesday, when Woods announced on his website that he and Williams will no longer be working together.
Although Williams was one of Woods' best friends, recently he felt like an outsider to Woods’ schedule and recovery from leg injuries.
Woods had expressed frustration when his caddie of 12 years chose to work for Adam Scott at the U.S. Open, and then signed up to work for the Australian again at the AT&T National and the British Open.
Williams posted a statement on his website that showed this was anything but an amicable split.
“Needless to say, this came as a shock,” said Williams, who changed the photo on his website to show him carrying Scott’s bag. “Given the circumstances of the past 18 months working through Tiger’s scandal, a new coach and with it a major swing and Tiger battling through injuries, I am very disappointed to end our very successful partnership at this time.”
